Tzedek, Tzedek Tirdof — Justice, Justice Shalt Thou Pursue

IMG_2264

Lady Justice depicts justice as a goddess equipped with three symbols: a sword symbolizing the court’s coercive power; a human scale weighing competing claims in each hand; and a blindfold indicating impartiality.

My depiction of the Scales of justice is a bit more cubist. Please feel free to comment. I’d love to hear your reaction.

The Scales of Justice measures 13 X 23.

  1. I;m typically not a cubism fan, but I like this piece. The colors are lovely and the whole piece, to me, has a sense of movement about it — as if the Scales of Justice are rocking back and forth before deciding where to balance.

  2. This piece is powerful. I love the balance depicted asymmetrically. Symmetrical images or sculptures representing justice tend to be cliche. I like the somber colors, but the pieces are thin and angular so it doesn’t look heavy. Ron, you are so talented.
