Sunrise – Sunset

This piece is special to me.

It recalls Parshat B’reishit – Genesis, Chapter 1 – “And there was light

The first two photos are daytime pics.

The 3rd is nighttime.

I used a bright copper patina and it made all the difference in the night view

The 4th is how my picture window looks at this moment.

And the last photo is the nighttime view from outside.

I like that people walking by at night get to enjoy the view.

Yet Another Dove!

Do we like the Dove facing East?   Or West?

Clear?  Or iridescent?

You Vote!

Gotta’ Give ‘Em Credit…

My last post was posted on the eve of the annual UM-OSU game.

The pregame talk was that THIS was going to be The Year.

Well, it didn’t turn out that way – Again.

There’s always next year  —  Right?

Welcome to Temple Kol Haverim

Temple Kol Haverim has chosen to beautify their building with this piece of stained glass artwork.  It will soon be hung over the main entrance of the temple.

I would like to thank the Kol Haverim community for reaching out to me and choosing this piece as a statement of their beliefs.

Nahalal – Ann Arbor’s Sister “Moshav”

IMG_7904

Nahalal is a Moshav in Israel and is the “Sister City” of the Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor.  A group of women recently traveled to Nahalal and commissioned me to create a piece of art to present to the Moshav.

Above is the finished piece;  below is an aerial view of the Moshav.  Note the fields radiating out from the central living space.  I also wanted to include my initial sketch (minus the iconic water tower that needed to be included!)

Mira and Doron Celebrate Life!

Each Piece of fused glass in this mobile represents the Birthstone of a Special Month in Mira and Doron’s lives.

Doron’s birthday and Mira and Doron’s Wedding in September is the beautiful Sapphire.

Peridot is Matan’s birthstone for August.

Mira’s birthday is in June represented by Alexandrite.  These gemstones are extremely rare and desirable since they change color based on the lighting.

Shai’s birthday in March is celebrated by the Aquamarine.

And finally there’s Judah, whose November birthstone is Topaz!

All the pieces are hand etched in Hebrew.

The Hebrew Day School of Ann Arbor

My children attended, and now my grandchildren attend the HDS.

I created this piece of stained glass art using the school’s logo.

I’m looking forward to sharing it with the community at the JCC in Ann Arbor.

Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor

As far as I can tell, Ann Arbor is the only Jewish Federation

with a stained glass logo.

We’re #1!!

SOLLY ! !

In keeping with the tradition I started with the other “South Side Gang” celebration, here is my interpretation of “Solly”.

The first photo is of the corner of Solly’s tallit.  The rainbow motif moved me to use it as a background for the Shlomo, Solly’s Hebrew name.

Giliah !

Below is the graphic from the invitation to Giliah’s Bat Mitzvah celebration.   I love transforming inspirational graphic images into pieces of Stained Glass Art.

And I have the most fun by including the iridescence visible only after dark.

MAC — The Dog

Is there Anyone who doesn’t Love Goldens?

Retrievers are loyal, loving and beautiful.

And my MAC is a prime example, don’t you think?

Tzedek – Work for Justice, Day and Night!

In these post-election times, it’s incumbent for All to work for Justice

both Day  —  and Night.

This piece appears quite different in the light of day

 —  as contrasted with the darkness of night.

Nearly everyone has seen this scene.

The Wedding Ceremony is over, except for one thing.

The attendees wait.

The groom raises his foot and crushes a glass wrapped in cloth.

The crowd rises, cheers, the couple kiss and walk back down the aisle –

Then   —   Ron runs up to grab the glass, and spirits it away….

Below you will see the steps to the finished product.

“Eish” Mazal Tov – Ariel and Stephanie

For those who don’t understand: The glass in my cover photo is a wedding present for a recently married couple.
I took the first letters of their Hebrew names – and they form the word “Eish” = Fire.
I wanted to show the warmth of their relationship by working with yellows, reds and oranges to represent the Fire of their Love.
Wishing only the best for Ari and Stephanie!
